We can give our warm recommendations to anyone considering going to Kyrgyzstan in general, and with Ecotour in particular! We spent two weeks in some of Ecotour's yurt camps, and it was a highly memorable experience. Ecotour was very flexible and had arranged a programme that suited our wishes perfectly.

In Kyrgyzstan more than 400 different kinds of birds exist. On this bird watching tour you undertake a surrounding of Lake Issyk-Kul, the second largest mountain lake of the world. At this lake numerous migratory birds spend the winter. On the northern shore we visit a bird reservoir, where a great number of aquatic birds have their nests: different kinds of swans, geese, ducks, seagulls, coots, grebes, etc.

In Kemin National Park and near Djeti Ogus many well-known and unknown species of songbirds and woodland birds have their nests. In the valleys between Temir-Kanat and Tuura-Suu numerous birds of prey, like different kinds of eagles, vultures as well as owls can be seen. The Ibisbill also lives here. Among ornithologists Kyrgyzstan has the reputation of a paradise for birds.

You travel accompanied by a Dutch ornithologist and an interpreter is ready to help you at all times. Accommodation in guesthouses, yurts and with local families. Minibuses take you to the places of visit.

On this journey you learn to know the great variety of biotopes, their bird populations and also the great diversity of landscapes in Kyrgyzstan.

If you are interested in different cultures, if you like discovering a new, unknown world and if you do not necessarily demand luxury, then you will have good memories of this trip for a long time.

You can find the list of birds seen in 2007 at the website www.tripreports.nl

Everything is included in the tour price with the exception of the flight, visa and bottled beverages. A visa can be obtained easily upon arrival at the airport in Bishkek. The price of the flight depends on the company you are flying with and the date of booking.
